2 December 2021

Saudi Arabia pavilion at the EXPO 2020 in Dubai wows visitors with an immersive multimedia show, featuring 686 linear meters of customized Infiled LED panels.

After a year’s delay due to Covid-19, Expo 2020 finally opened in Dubai in October 2021. Integrator Kraftwerk Living Technologies were appointed to bring the vision of leading architect Boris Micka to life and make the Saudi Arabia Pavilion stand out among the 200 exhibition pavilions.

“We needed to show the country as open, inviting and fun,” explains Boris Micka. “The population in Saudi Arabia is very young; it’s the most social media oriented country in the World. It’s so modern and to represent it properly you have to use technology”.

The side of the building integrates 686 linear meters of customized Infiled LED panels. With a pixel pitch of 16mm, the panels are being used to display graphics and text, running continuously though the entire side of the pavilion.

All elements of the ‘Window to the Future’ – from the surface of the roof down to the interactive floor – are synchronised and come together with audio each evening. Every 15 minutes there is a different short presentation on Saudi Arabia, with a spectacular multimedia show.

‘Window to the Future’ – as the Saudi Arabia Pavilion has been named – immerses you with its unique combination of interactive digital displays & technology, including multimedia floor, tracking cameras connected with infrared grid to track people and their movement, videomapping, giant mirrored glass roof – it offers different perspectives and new visual elements from every view and angle.
